A Room With a View

Quo Vadis 2 Hotel – a perfectly located hotel for visiting Musei Vaticani and St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican.

We chose this budget hotel because of its excellent location. The Musei Vaticani is just a five-minute walk from the hotel, and St. Peter's Square is just about a twenty-minute walk to the south.

We arrived somewhat late in the afternoon and had to notify and rouse the hotel keeper, Pasquale, who was working in another hotel location nearby. He promptly came over and attended to us and showed us our room.

The room that was reserved for us was on the west side of the building, and opening the windows gave us a nice view of the street leading up to the Vatican Museum. We could actually see the intersection and the sidewalk right in front of the gate of the museum. The room was clean, and Pasquale was very polite and accommodating. On the second day of our stay, we noticed that there was a minor issue with the shower but it was promptly fixed.

The next morning (and the morning after), we noticed that visitors would usually start showing up at the museum's entrance gate at around 6:30 in the morning, and the sidewalk on the street leading up to the gate would fill up with people at around 7:45, as shown on the first photo above.

Some ristorantes and pizzerias around the Piazza del Risorgimento.

There is also a nice little gelateria around the corner on the way to St. Peter's Square – the Old Bridge Gelateria, where our group had gelato, like three nights in a row.

Quo Vadis Roma 2 is a nice budget hotel, with a courteous hotel keeper (Pasquale). If you are visiting the square and the museum, this budget hotel is highly recommended. We are planning on visiting Rome again, and will definitely stay again in this hotel.
